The residence for relaxation designed to blend in with the landscape and maximize views of Cornwall's vibrant coastline.

Exposed towards the winds blowing from the Atlantic Ocean, its architectural design has absorbed typical local decor elements and the spirit of habitual leisure. With a combination of moderate yet bold waves, Cornwall is popular for surfing, especially for tourists who flock in the thousands during the summer months.

A trio of connected houses embedded in the rolling hillside are inspired by beach cabanas, and lined with local stone and black timber.

Inside the home is a large contemporary living space with continuous terrazzo concrete floors making a seamless transition between the kitchen, dining and living areas, all of which are oriented towards large windows overlooking the ocean.

The Cornwall coastline is composed mainly of stable rocks, giving high cliffs in many places. Access to the main master's dwelling house is through a series of central stone steps that repeat the nature of the rocky cliffs of the surrounding landscape.

From here, the house seems walled and austere, but as soon as the doors are opened, the full panoramic space is breathtaking with the exposed fickle and lively elements of wind and water.

The farthest left cabin features a separate guest annex with en-suite bathroom, kitchenette and large double bedroom opening onto a private balcony.

Coastal glazing withstands strong gusts of wind

Equipped with our premium windbreak Keller minimal windows® 4+ glazing, this coastal home stands up to strong gusts of wind and harsh weather conditions.

This solution is rigorously tested at a UK local testing centre in Amersham for a specific project requirement.

Several sliding minimal windows® glass door units were installed to create a frameless glazed façade on the back of the home, and frameless structural glass windows were integrated throughout the trio of connected homes. Together with a neutral, bright interior aesthetic, the home boasts a jagged layout of a number of modern, brightly lit interior living spaces.

Each of the bedrooms has three large, minimal windows® systems, while sliding doors tucked into the surrounding black timber walls provide unhindered access to a terrace that runs the length of the home.

Nearly 2m tall, these frameless windows let plenty of natural light into the bedrooms while allowing homeowners to enjoy stunning panoramic views of the beach.

The wind load resistance of the installed glazing in the Dynargh residence complies with class C5 according to EN 12210, which refers to the 329 km/h (204 mph) maximum wind load tolerance of the glass.
