Calm, Clarity, and Connection
This private villa set in the rolling hills of Devon opens itself to the surrounding landscape with quiet confidence. The single-storey structure is purposefully embedded into the terrain and aligns all major axes towards the open countryside. At its core lies a central courtyard that connects the various rooms with light, air, and vistas. The expansive glass surfaces frame views of the fields and hills of North Devon, allowing the natural topography to become part of the interior design. A restrained palette of materials – concrete, wood, and aluminium – underlines the architecture’s clarity, while precisely placed window openings direct daylight and define the rhythm between openness and shelter.
- minimal windows® for seamless integration
-
Large minimal windows® were used across all façades, complemented by glass-to-glass corners, fixed glazing, and individually configured window solutions. The profiles are fully integrated into ceiling, floor, and wall, creating the appearance of a nearly frameless glass façade. Thanks to the slender design and precise alignment with the supporting structure and architectural grid, the glazing becomes a natural extension of the building’s formal language. Despite the elevated location and increased wind loads, no additional reinforcements were necessary. The result is an architecture of clarity and light – defined by transparency, technical precision, and structural calm.
